Three Great American Artists: Edward Hopper, Georgia O'Keeffe, George Bellows

  • Haselbury Mill Crewkerne, England, TA18 7NY United Kingdom (map)

2024 sees the hundredth anniversary of the marriages of both Edward Hopper and Georgia O’Keeffe and the final pictures of the ill-fated George Bellows. These leading practitioners of Modernism captured the American landscape of New England, New York and New Mexico. Hopper’s wife’s dynamic role proved key to his success, O’Keeffe married her famous promoter and art dealer Alfred Stieglitz, Bellows perished while still at the height of his powers. During this fascinating course with art historian Dr Jan Cox, we analyse the qualities that made these three artists giants of modern America in the early twentieth century.

Nestled in the Somerset countryside with a meandering river, tranquil lake and 14-acres of glorious gardens, our home for the course is the truly stunning Haselbury Mill. Steeped in history with a timeless charm, throughout your stay you’ll enjoy delicious food, beautiful accommodation and the very warmest of welcomes.

The course runs from dinner on the first day (25th November) until lunch on the last day (27th November)
