Colour Knitting

  • Pennard House Shepton Mallet, England, BA4 6TP United Kingdom (map)

Join tutor Tracy Chapman to learn the secrets behind working with more than one colour with two very different techniques. On this workshop we will look at the traditional method of Fair Isle knitting, where we will practice stranding and weaving yarns with both hands. Part of the day will be spent looking at Intarsia knitting. This is the more abstract method of the craft, where endless colours are used to great effect. We will work up small swatches of each method during the workshop. Throughout the day we will discuss the importance of colour and cover essential tips to improve the overall finish of both techniques.

Our home for the day will be the stunning surroundings of Pennard House, a Grade II listed manor house nestled in the idyllic Somerset countryside. The friendly team at Pennard will ensure you are well looked after throughout your visit with a beautiful 2-course lunch and refreshments, not to mention a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere.

All materials are included, but please do check our ‘What to Bring’ section below for a couple of additional items you’ll need to bring along yourself.
