Monarchy, Society and Culture in Plantagenet England 1154 - 1399
Wednesday 12th March - Friday 14th March
The Plantagenet dynasty spanned eight generations of English kings from 1154 to 1399. It produced some of England's greatest kings and some of its less able rulers. The period witnessed much change and included notable cultural achievements in architecture and art. The aim of this fascinating course with historian Mark Cottle is to look at the members of this dynasty in turn, their achievements and failures and to look at something of the cultural 'spirit of the age'.
Nestled in the Somerset countryside with a meandering river, tranquil lake and 14-acres of glorious gardens, our home for the course is the truly stunning Haselbury Mill. Steeped in history with a timeless charm, throughout your stay you’ll enjoy delicious food, beautiful accommodation and the very warmest of welcomes.
The course runs from dinner on the first day (12th March) until lunch on the last day (14th March)
