Three Great American Artists: Edward Hopper, Georgia O'Keeffe, George Bellows
Monday 25th November - Wednesday 27th November
2024 sees the hundredth anniversary of the marriages of both Edward Hopper and Georgia O’Keeffe and the final pictures of the ill-fated George Bellows. These leading practitioners of Modernism captured the American landscape of New England, New York and New Mexico. Hopper’s wife’s dynamic role proved key to his success, O’Keeffe married her famous promoter and art dealer Alfred Stieglitz, Bellows perished while still at the height of his powers. During this fascinating course, we analyse the qualities that made these three artists giants of modern America in the early twentieth century.
