Having had a long term interest in British Architectural History, David then sat at the feet of various luminaries including Paul Barnwell, Jon Cannon, Tim Porter, Mike Hope, John Mc Neil etc. which culminated in undertaking the Postgraduate Certificate in Architectural History at Oxford.

David has worked for numerous organisations over the years such as Classical Education Forum (Cardiff), WEA, CAS (Clevedon), numerous U3A groups and finally taking on the late Jon Cannon's Medieval Architectural History Group (Now called BMAG).

David is a Member of the British Archaeological Association and, until latterly, a member of the Society of Architectural Historians of Great Britain. He also holds a BA (Hons) in Fine Art Valuation which is useful when considering the contents of many of the buildings.
